Guiding Questions for Parents.

Definition: to be amazed at and/or curious about something that is pleasantly unexpected, beautiful, or mysterious. In short: Curiosity sparks endless discovery. Summary: A girl goes outside on a cloudy, rainy day. She observes the animals and plants and how they experience the rain. The sun comes out and a rainbow stretches across the sky. It’s a day full of wonder and joy! Lesson Objectives:

Students look at a rainy day through the girl’s eyes and feel the wonder and joy she feels.
They respond to the story by drawing their own impressions of rainy, stormy weather.

Guiding questions:

How does the girl know it’s going to be a rainy day?
What are clouds made of and how do they produce rain?
Where do different animals go when it rains?
Why do plants like the rain?
What’s needed to make a rainbow?
Do you like to splash in puddles?
Do you like to play in the mud?
Would you rather play outside when it’s sunny or when it rains? Why?
Have you ever seen a rainbow? Where were you when you saw one?
Draw a picture of a cloudy, stormy, rainy day and try to include some of the things you read about in the story.
