Guiding Questions for Parents.

Definition: A friend is someone you like spending time with because they make you feel happy and special, and help you when you need it. In short: Build bonds that last forever. Summary: A boy has an unusual pet, an elephant. He brings his elephant to Pet club day to spend time with other pet owners, but unfortunately the sign on the door says, “No Elephants!” On his way home, the boy meets a girl with a pet skunk that is also rejected. They start a club with the motto: “Friends never leave anyone behind,” and invite other kids with their unusual pets to come and play. Lesson Objectives:

Students will be motivated to be more inclusive, realizing how hurtful it is to be rejected.
Students who feel excluded will be inspired to seek out others with whom they have something in common.
