Guiding Questions for Parents.

Definition: Showing respect means to use words and actions that show we care about all people and things.    In short: Value others, honor differences. Summary: The virtue of respect for oneself and others is the theme of this story about Lucy, a girl with wild red hair who is being bullied by Ralph, a classmate. Lucy wants to complain about Ralph but she’s afraid of being labeled a tattletale.  An incident on the playground gives them a chance to reconcile, and in the end, both Lucy and Ralph learn some important lessons and become friends.   Lesson Objectives:
  1. Students who are bullies will change their behavior, and students who are bullied will be more empowered to find comfort in knowing they are worthy of respect.
  2. Teachers can post this message and talk about it often during the school year: Bullying is always wrong and everyone deserves to be respected.
  Guiding Questions:

  2. How would you describe Ralph?
  3. Why do you think Ralph picks on Lucy?
