Definition: Showing respect means to use words and actions that show we care about all people and things. In short: Value others, honor differences. Summary: Papa Chicken asks his child to not interrupt while he reads a bedtime story. Little Chicken can’t relax and fall asleep because she gets so involved in the story. She keeps interrupting. Finally Papa Chicken tells her to read him a story, hoping that she will get tired. But that’s not what happens! Lesson Objectives:

Students are guided to talk about this humorous story and its message about interrupting. In this case, the child interrupts the dad at bedtime and it’s more humorous than impolite. However, there are times when interrupting is not okay and students need to be able to identify the difference.
