Definition: to be amazed at and/or curious about something that is pleasantly unexpected, beautiful, or mysterious. In short: Curiosity sparks endless discovery. Summary: Vivian and her family move to a beach town where she becomes involved in a school project to save baby loggerhead turtles. As she takes a walk on the beach at night, she discovers why newly hatched turtles are crawling away from the sea when they need to go into the sea in order to survive - they are getting confused by city lights that lead them in the wrong direction. Vivian’s activism inspires the whole town to get involved in saving the baby turtles. Lesson Objectives:

This story can be linked to studies about environmental issues, especially how humans need to understand the needs of the natural world around them and make adjustments.
