Guiding Questions for Parents.

Definition: Courage is being willing to face something hard or scary, like trying to do something you’ve never done before. In short: Do good, try hard even when it’s scary. Summary: The villagers of the city La Paz are fed up with all the noise in their village, so they elect a new ultra strict mayor to get rid of the bothersome racket. The mayor enforces a no noise rule, but when the village becomes silent its citizens regret their decision. Finally, a courageous rooster rebels and refuses to stop singing no matter what the mayor does to try to stop it. The mayor is kicked out and the village becomes a happy, noisy place again. Lesson Objectives:

Students gain courage to speak up if they see something that isn’t right, such as bullying on the playground, or someone stealing.

What is a gallito?
What are some of the ways the mayor tried to control the rooster?
What is your definition of a bully?
How did the rooster show courage?
How did the villagers get the mayor to leave?
What kind of sounds and music do you like?
Have you ever visited a farm and heard a rooster crowing?
If you see something wrong, like someone being bullied, how likely is it that you would do something about it? What could you do?
