Guiding Questions for Parents.

Definition: Integrity means being honest, and responsible and respectful all the time, whether or not people can see what you’re doing. In short: Do the right thing, even when no one's looking. Summary: The Berenstain Bears are packing to go on a camping trip. They’re looking forward to camping out and participating in a canoe race. They encounter some challenging rapids and whirlpools as they paddle downstream and it looks like they will win until they reach the finish line - the other team is already there! But did they win the race fairly? Lesson Objectives:

Students discuss what sportsmanship is and how winning fairly is always the best way. They are more inclined to participate fairly in games and sports.

Guiding Questions:

Where is the Berenstain family headed?
What is the most exciting part of the trip for the kids?
What happens during the race?
How did the other team get to the finish line first?
Did they tell the truth about how they arrived first?
Who wins the race?
What does the word “sportsmanship” mean to you?
What does it mean to play a game or sport fairly?
What does the word “cheat” mean to you?
When you play a game or participate in a sport and someone on the other team cheats, how does that make you feel?
